CBD and Acne

CBD and Acne

Acne effects everyone, and doesn’t discriminate by age, gender, or race. It’s estimated that 60 million Americans have active acne and it’s not just teens who are suffering from blemished skin. Anyone who has ever lived with acne knows just how difficult it can be.

Teens suffering from acne are typically at the age where they are undergoing profound psychological, emotional and physical changes. Some Studies have found that acne can significantly diminish a young person’s quality of life and have a direct impact that negatively affects their self esteem.

Adults who have acne can suffer just as much. One study found acne to have a considerable impact on mental health of adult females between the ages of 18 – 25.

Anyone who has suffered from acne probably already knows about the countless products on the market that promise to make it go away. From scrubs and creams to natural remedies. The problem is, they don’t always work. As anyone who has suffered the pains of acne knows, getting rid of blemished skin can come down to taking prescription medication.

Accutane is a drug commonly used to the treating acne, but is also well known for many extremely serious side effects including: Depression, Suicidal tendencies, Short temper, Anger, Loss of motivation, Loss of social interaction, Changes in appetite and Psychosis.

Accutane also has a high risk for causing birth defects, miscarriage and fetal death. Women who are child bearing age are only allowed a one month supply, even though the most common prescribed treatment is five months. Women are not allowed to refill until it has been proven the woman isn’t pregnant, is on birth control, or is not engaging in sex. All this for clear skin? No thanks!

Fortunately, CBD has shown to be an excellent treatment for acne! And, it works naturally without any unwanted or dangerous side effects!

CBD has demonstrated to have a very powerful effect on sebum production. Like other parts of the body, a person’s endocannabinoid system is expressed in their skin and found in various cells within the skin. The sebaceous glands even have their own endocannabinoid receptors!

A landmark study was conducted at the University of Debrecen in Hungary. It found that CBD is a powerful treatment for acne and can clear up skin better than most treatments that are currently available. They also found that CBD not only decreases sebum production, but also kept skin inflammation under control.

Another area where CBD helped with acne was it’s ability to decrease the growth of sebocytes ( the cells that make up the sebaceous glands) by decreasing the production of unwanted sebocyte cells.

Acne has a dramatic impact on a person’s life. Finding treatments that work is often a difficult task that leave people who suffer from acne with little hope that they will ever see the clear skin they desire.

CBD can help. This non psychoactive cannabinoid has shown to stop excess sebum production, block sebum cells from reproducing, and put and end to the inflammation commonly associated with acne. As an all natural treatment for acne, CBD can help reduce the blemishes, pimple, blackheads, whiteheads, oily skin and inflammation associated with it.
